Hear the jangle of harnesses? The husky snorts? Maybe a cheery “ho, ho, ho,” growing louder by the minute? Must be just about time for the Greenwich Reindeer Festival!
And indeed, it is: The 9th edition of this popular family tradition kicks off on November 24 and runs through December 23, and you couldn’t ask for nicer accommodations for taking part in the proceedings than Hotel Zero Degrees Stamford!

The Greenwich Reindeer Festival: Photos with Santa, Meet-&-Greets with Reindeer
The 2017 Greenwich Reindeer Festival gets underway with a “We’re Back” party at noon on the 24th. Following some ribbon-cutting pomp and circumstance, Santa Claus will open up his workshop and start posing for photos. Live reindeer, of course, will also be on hand to delight young and old: The holiday herd will be fed throughout the day Mondays through Saturdays until December 22nd (when, festival organizers report, the critters need to get back north to ready themselves for their globe-hopping Christmas Eve commute).
Other Greenwich Reindeer Festival Fun
The presence of Santa and his reindeer will likely be more than enough excitement for the kids (and the kids-at-heart), but the festival features other attractions as well, including rides on the Winter Wonderland Carousel and the North Pole Polar Express Train.
There’ll also be an ongoing “Pepsi Name That Reindeer Contest” for most of the festival. On December 20, Saint Nick will draw the reindeer names submitted by children from the ballot box and declare three winners.
Buying a photo with Santa Claus, meanwhile, will give you a Shop and Dine Greenwich Gift Bag with special deals for local stores—just in time for Christmas shopping, mind you.
