New England Chowdafest is underway (rain or shine) 11 AM to 3 PM on Sunday, October 6th in Sherwood Island State Park, which happens to be just minutes from Hotel Zero Degrees Norwalk (and also easily accessible from our Stamford and Danbury locations). New England Chowdafest 2019
It’s the 12th edition of New England Chowdafest, which celebrates not only that quintessential regional dish of clam chowder but also other chowder varieties as well as bisques and soups.
Actually, that doesn’t even account for the full gastronomic spectrum on offer at Chowdafest: There’ll also Italian goodies served up in the “Ciao”dafest zone, salsas and guacamoles presented in the “ChowdaMex” area, a slew of pies, cookies, and other treats, and various beverages, from coffee and tea to hot chocolate and sparkling (non-alcoholic) drinks.
No question, though, that the main focus is on the 30-plus New England restaurants invited to enter their very best stuff in four categories: New England Clam Chowder, Creative Chowder, Soup/Bisque, and Vegetarian.
You and the rest of the Chowdafest attendees serve as judges, rating your (unlimited) samples of the entrees on a scale of 7.0 to 10.5. You’ve got the power—and the pleasure of tasting your way through the full festival smorgasbord.
You get your sampling spoon for a mere $20 ($5 for kids ages 6 to 12), and parking’s free, so it’s all a pretty darn good deal—and of course the proceeds are going to charity! You can nab tickets at the door, but starting September 6th you’ll also be able to secure them over the Chowdafest website, which’ll save you some waiting in line on the big day.
